The video and the test kit are examples of Living Water’s commitment to provide safe, clean drinking water. Worldwide, 783 million people lack access to an improved source of drinking water. In sub-Saharan Africa alone, 40 billion hours are spent each year just hauling water. Water-related diseases cause 2.2 million deaths a year; every day, diarrhea takes the lives of 2,000 children in Africa–more than any other single cause of death. Safe water, a toilet, and clean hands could prevent 90% of these deaths. The test kit and video instruction empower regional and field staff the ability to perform the test in remote areas and to train others in its proper use. The video can be left behind for use on a laptop, tablet, and smart-phone or posted for download on the Internet. The video portion was recorded at the Living Water Training Center in Quantum Lakes, Texas. Voice narrations in English and Spanish were recorded at Living Water headquarters in Stafford, TX. Audio narrations in other languages can easily be added to this video for training purposes. The video was produced by Archaic Media and funded by a grant from Information Assets, Inc., both of Houston, Texas. Living Water International exists to demonstrate the love of God by helping communities acquire desperately needed clean water, and to experience “living water”—the gospel of Jesus Christ—which alone satisfies the deepest thirst. Living Water International training programs in shallow well drilling, pump repair/operations & maintenance, and hygiene education have equipped thousands of volunteers and professionals in the basics of integrated water solutions since 1997.
